Kirby Cupcakes

Watch out, Metaknight! Hell suck you right up!

Watch out, Meta Knight! He'll suck you right up!

Inspired by the latest creation over at Snack or Die, I decided to spend part of my Saturday afternoon making these adorable Kirby cupcakes. My version is slightly different, as I use white cake instead of strawberry, and mine also have frosting. Both the cake and frosting are colored with 3 drops of neon pink food coloring.

Check out my tasty, pink, Kirbylicious cupcakes… › Continue reading

DogHatesME

DogHatesME, is yet another brilliant webcomic by Sam Brown of ExplodingDog. DogHatesME is similar to ExplodingDog in the simple, yet somehow always satisfying artistic style, the always quirky humor, and its ability to always make me smile – but different in the sense that it is a 3 panel strip, and not based off of user-submitted titles and phrases. DogHatesME has been around since November 2008, and has managed to make me laugh consistently every morning when the strip is posted. If you’re a fan of ExplodingDog or just webcomics in general,  you’ll cling to this quickly.

All You Need is GEEK

NY Comic Con

NY Comic Con

Lennon and McCartney may have believed that “all you need is love”. Whether or not that may be true, what I learned last weekend at the New York Comic Con is “all you need is geek”…

My first Comic Con turned out to be everything I had hoped for and more. I had been wanting to go check it out for a few years now, despite the fact that I don’t actually read comic books, and I’m incredibly happy that I finally ended up going. My lack of interest in comic books didn’t really even matter at all, because my love for gaming, art, design, webcomics, and toys ended up being perfect for a casual trip to the Con. › Continue reading

Spread the Love, Geek Style

Magic Mushroom Massager

Magic Mushroom Massager

This adorable Magic Mushroom Massager from Mod Cloth is a really simple way to say “Baby, I’d rather be playing video games right now, but here’s a massage to ensure that I still get laid tonight.” Relax your geek after a long day of WoW with this super cute, compact massager. It’ll fit perfectly on your desk next to those giant monitors, or on your dresser in between all those collectable toys. It’s only $14.99, and it’s sure to seal the deal. Definitely something to keep in mind for next Valentine’s Day.

I won’t deny it – it’s the little silly things like this that make my heart go all aflutter. Any guy who brings this over to my place for a night of romance is sure to score with me. And by score, I of course mean that I’ll let him win a few rounds of Mario Kart. It IS Valentine’s Day after all.

Amazing Super Powers

Amazing Super Powers

During Comic Con this past weekend, I had the pleasure of meeting Wes from Amazing Super Powers, a super cool webcomic that I had actually never heard of. He was a pretty nice dude, and he let me draw on his nametag, so I made sure to check out the comic when I got home.  I’ll be the first to say that it’s an exceptionally good find, and I had a blast browsing through the hilarious archives.  It’s made it’s way into my daily routine, and hopefully it will for you as well. Check it out!

Ten Things I Can’t Live Without

My BFF

My BFF

1. Tabbed Browsing-
I’m not quite sure how the internet existed before tabbed browsing, but I’m completely thankful that it was finally invented. I’m incredibly happy that I cannot remember the time of my life where my internet experience consisted of a mess of “New Windows” all over the screen or constantly pressing the “back” button. I am also incredibly fond of tabbed chatting as well. I enjoy not having to move a billion IM windows all over my screen while talking to people. Tabs. They’re good for you.

2. Gmail-
The best e-mail service of all time, hands down. Gmail is actually one of my favorite things ever invented, not just in terms of the internet or e-mail providers, but just as a whole. I remember the days of my AOL account, and am extremely happy that those days are long gone. I’ve checked out Yahoo and Hotmail just to see the competition, and I really just cannot see how people are using them. They’re clunky, they’re disorganized, and they’re awful.

3. Music-
Music has gotten me through the ups, downs and in-betweens of the last 23 years of my life, and I’m sure that it will continue to get me through the next 50+. Even though the music industry has gone terribly downhill in the last 10 years (probably longer than that, but I’m cutting them some slack), there will never be a day in my life that music does not affect me in some way. › Continue reading

The Sims 3

The Sims 3 Collectors Edition

The Sims 3 Collectors Edition

I just pre-ordered my copy of The Sims 3, and it can’t possibly get here soon enough. I shelled out the extra 20 bucks for the Collectors Edition, which isn’t even really that much cooler, but I’ve been a sucker for The Sims since day 1, and I just felt like I needed to have it. (Plus, who doesn’t want a Plumbob USB keychain?)

I’ve been pumped about The Sims 3 pretty much since the The Sims 2, and I hoped and prayed that they would one day make an even better, cooler edition of this game. My prayers were answered, and in 15 days, I’ll finally get to play!

It sounds like EA really worked hard on TS3, made some absolutely necessary changes, and I’ll definitely be posting a review once I can pull myself away from playing. :D

It’s a shame I don’t get paid vacation, or else I’d definitely take a week off to play!

Plinky

Plinky.com is a brand new social networking/micro-blogging site that is actually both unique and entertaining. I give Plinky a lot of credit, seeing as most new micro-blogging sites these days don’t really bring anything new to the table, they’re just carbon copies of the already existing ones. Plinky is as easy to use as Twitter, and definitely tons of fun.

Basically, Plinky offers you a list of “Prompts”, which are questions for you to answer. All you have to do is type in an answer, submit it, and you’re done! It’s just as addictive as those silly online survey things that everyone is always posting in Facebook notes or on their LiveJournals, but it adds more to the experience. You can follow people’s answers, pick favorites, and even add your Plinky responses to your Twitter, Facebook, Tumblr, etc.

It’s definitely worth a look.

Coda.fm

Coda.fm is a fairly new torrent sharing site. Although their current selection is small, the site is laid out very well and is very organized. You currently don’t need an account to download or upload, but I imagine this will change as the site grows. If you’re a torrent downloader, check it out for sure.
